Privacy Policy for Kicker
Effective Date: July 3, 2026
Kicker is an AI task-management coach and gamified productivity app operated by Companion Intelligence, Inc. ("Companion Intelligence", "we", "us", or "our").
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Companion Intelligence, Inc. ("Company", "we", "us") collects, uses, and discloses your personal data ("Personal Data") when you use the Kicker mobile application ("Kicker", the "App") and our related website at www.usekicker.com (together, the "Services"). Kicker is an AI-powered task-management coach: it helps you capture tasks, get AI guidance, complete daily plans, and progress a character ("Kicker") through journeys funded by your real-world task completion. By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the categories of information described below to operate Kicker, deliver the features you ask for, and improve the Services. We do not sell your Personal Data.
A. Account & Profile Data
When you sign in with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, we receive a unique account identifier, your email address (or a relay email if you choose Apple's private relay), and your display name. We also store the Kicker character you create during onboarding (its visual shape, your preferred name for it, and the personality profile derived from the onboarding questions).
B. Content You Create in the App
Kicker stores the content you create so the App can show you your data across devices and so the AI can help you manage it. This includes:
- Tasks, task lists, due dates, statuses, and notes
- AI chat messages and conversation history with the Kicker assistant
- Voice recordings captured during the onboarding voice questions (used to build your personality profile) and short voice notes you choose to send in chat
- Photos and images you choose to attach to chats
- Character progression and gameplay state: stat values, travel history, inventory items, postcards, seeds (in-game currency), and reward history
- Mailbox messages, diary entries, and other in-app content you create
C. Third-Party Integration Data
If you choose to connect Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, or any other supported third-party account, we receive an OAuth access token from that service and use it to fetch the specific content you authorize (for example, recent emails for summarization, upcoming calendar events for scheduling suggestions, or Notion pages for note import). We only access the scopes you grant during the OAuth consent screen. You can disconnect any integration at any time from Settings → Integrations; doing so revokes our access and we stop syncing new data from that service.
D. Subscription & Payment Data
Subscriptions to Kicker Pro are sold and billed by the Apple App Store (on iOS) or Google Play (on Android). We do not receive your credit card, debit card, or bank details — Apple and Google handle all payment processing. We do receive a subscription receipt / entitlement record from our subscription platform partner RevenueCat (which acts as our processor), including: an anonymous app-user ID, the product ID of your plan (monthly or annual), trial status, renewal date, and cancellation status. We use this information to unlock paid features and to honor restore-purchase requests across devices.
E. Device & Usage Data
We automatically collect technical information when you use the App, including:
- Device model, operating system version, app version, and device language
- IP address, approximate location derived from IP, and network type
- Push notification token (provided by Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can deliver reminders and AI-generated notifications
- Crash reports, error logs, and performance traces (collected via Firebase Crashlytics and our logging provider LogRocket)
- Feature usage events (for example, which screen was opened, which task was completed, which A/B test variant was shown) so we can understand which features help users and which need to improve
F. Permissions-Based Data
Kicker only accesses the following device resources when you explicitly grant the corresponding permission, and only for the purpose described:
- Microphone — to record onboarding voice answers and voice notes you choose to send in chat. We do not listen to the microphone in the background.
- Camera & Photo Library — only when you tap the attach button to add a photo to a chat message.
- Location — used only to surface contextual content such as local weather or nearby suggestions when an AI tool you invoke requires it. We do not track your location continuously.
- Notifications — to deliver task reminders, AI nudges, travel completion alerts, and daily check-ins.
- App Tracking Transparency (iOS) / Advertising ID (Android) — used for attribution as described in Section 2.G.
You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device's system settings.
G. Advertising Identifiers & Marketing Attribution
We work with mobile measurement partner AppsFlyer to understand which marketing channels drove your app install and which campaigns lead to engaged users. Depending on your platform and your device-level tracking preferences, we may process:
- IDFA (iOS) — a resettable advertising identifier collected only if you grant App Tracking Transparency permission. If you decline, no IDFA is collected.
- GAID / AAID (Android) — a resettable advertising identifier subject to your Android-level advertising preferences.
- IDFV (iOS) — an Apple-provided identifier unique to our app on your device, used for anonymous analytics and fraud prevention.
- Anonymous device signals — AppsFlyer UID, device model, OS version, app version, IP address, and ad-click identifiers — used to stitch pre-login events to your account after sign-in and to detect install fraud.
AppsFlyer acts as our data processor. We do not sell these identifiers and we do not use them for cross-app advertising without your consent. On iOS, you can manage this under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID under Settings → Google → Ads. For more information, see AppsFlyer's Services Privacy Policy.
H. Health & Fitness Data (Apple Health & Health Connect)
If you choose to connect Kicker to Apple Health (HealthKit) on iOS or Health Connect on Android, Kicker reads the health and fitness data you explicitly authorize so it can provide health- and activity-aware coaching, context, and suggestions tied to your tasks and daily plans. You grant access for each data type on the Apple Health or Health Connect permission screen, and Kicker only reads the types you approve. We only read this data; we never write to, modify, or delete data in Apple Health or Health Connect.
Depending on the permissions you grant, the data types we may read include:
- Activity & fitness: steps, distance, active calories burned, floors climbed, workouts and exercise, and stand time (iOS only)
- Vital signs: resting heart rate, and on iOS only, heart-rate variability and oxygen saturation
- Body measurements: height and weight
- Characteristics (iOS only): biological sex and date of birth
- Sleep
How we handle this data:
- Health and fitness data is used solely to provide the features you have asked for within Kicker. Where a feature requires server-side processing, the relevant data is transmitted to our backend over an encrypted (TLS) connection and retained only as long as needed to deliver that feature.
- Where a feature uses AI to generate coaching, context, or suggestions from your health and fitness data, the relevant data may be processed by our third-party AI model providers as described in Section 4 (AI Processing) — solely to deliver that feature. These providers are contractually barred from training their models on it, and it is never used for advertising.
- We do not use Apple Health or Health Connect data for advertising or marketing, and we do not sell it or share it with data brokers or any third party for their own purposes.
- We request the minimum data types needed for the features you use, and access is read-only.
- You can revoke Kicker's access at any time — on iOS under Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Kicker, on Android in the Health Connect settings under App permissions → Kicker, or by disconnecting from Settings → Integrations in the app.
- Our access to and use of Health Connect data complies with the Health Connect permissions policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Our use of Apple Health (HealthKit) data complies with Apple's HealthKit guidelines.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above for the following purposes:
- Operate Kicker. Authenticate your account, sync your tasks, character, and game state across devices, generate AI suggestions, deliver reminders, and progress your character's travel journeys.
- Personalize the experience. Use your onboarding answers and task history to tailor AI guidance, rewards, and notification timing.
- Process subscriptions. Confirm your Kicker Pro entitlement, honor restore requests, and handle plan changes.
- Improve the Services. Analyze aggregate usage, run A/B tests, fix bugs, and improve AI quality.
- Measure marketing. Attribute app installs and subscriptions to the campaigns that drove them, prevent install fraud, and decide where to invest in marketing.
- Communicate with you. Send service-related emails (password resets, receipts, important policy updates) and, where you have opted in, occasional product announcements.
- Safety, security, and compliance. Detect abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with applicable law, court orders, and legal requests.
4. AI Processing and Third-Party Model Providers
Kicker uses large language models from third-party providers (currently Google and OpenAI) to generate AI chat responses, task suggestions, summaries, and other AI features. When you send a chat message or invoke an AI feature, the content of that message — together with relevant context such as recent task history or connected-integration content needed to fulfill your request — is transmitted to the model provider over an encrypted connection.
We instruct our model providers under data-processing agreements not to train their generally-available models on your prompts or completions, and not to retain your content beyond what is required to operate the API (typically a short abuse-monitoring retention window). We do not use your conversations to train Kicker's own models. You can delete your chat history at any time from Settings → Chat history.
5. Sharing With Third Parties
We do not sell your Personal Data. We share the limited categories of data described below only with the service providers that help us operate Kicker:
- Apple Inc. / Google LLC — sign-in and in-app purchase processing.
- RevenueCat, Inc. — subscription entitlement, receipt validation, and cross-device subscription state.
- Google Firebase — authentication infrastructure, push messaging (Android), crash reporting, analytics, and Remote Config for feature flags and A/B testing.
- Google LLC and OpenAI, L.L.C. — large language model inference (see Section 4).
- AppsFlyer Ltd. — mobile install attribution and marketing measurement (see Section 2.G).
- LogRocket, Inc. — error logging and session diagnostics to debug user-reported issues.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — content delivery, DDoS protection, and hosting infrastructure.
- Legal & safety recipients. We may disclose information to law enforcement, regulators, or other parties when required by law, when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Companion Intelligence, our users, or the public, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
6. Data Retention
We retain your Personal Data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Voice recordings captured in onboarding are processed to derive your personality profile and are then retained for up to 90 days unless you request earlier deletion. AI chat messages are retained until you delete them or delete your account. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your Personal Data within 30 days, except where applicable law requires longer retention (for example, tax and payment records).
7. International Data Transfer
Kicker is operated globally. Personal Data we collect may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than the country in which you reside, including the United States. Where required by law, we put in place appropriate safeguards (for example, the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission) to ensure your Personal Data continues to be protected.
8. Children's Privacy
Kicker is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom). We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us and we will take prompt steps to delete it.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the Personal Data we hold about you;
- request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- request that we delete your Personal Data (subject to limited exceptions);
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- receive a copy of your Personal Data in a portable, machine- readable format;
- withdraw any consent you previously gave (without affecting the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal);
- lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
You can exercise many of these rights directly in the app: edit your profile, disconnect integrations, delete chat history, or tap Settings → Account → Delete account to permanently delete your Kicker account and the data associated with it. To exercise any other right, please contact us at the email address in Section 12. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
California residents: The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, grants you specific rights — including the right to know, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell your Personal Data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us using the details in Section 12.
10. How We Protect Your Information
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect Personal Data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Traffic between the App and our backend is encrypted in transit (TLS). Authentication tokens are stored in the device's secure keystore (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; if we become aware of a security incident affecting your Personal Data we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by applicable law.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or to the Services. When we do, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page. If the changes are material, we will notify you in advance (for example, by email or by a prominent in-app notice). We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
12. Contact Us
If you have any questions, requests, or concerns about this Privacy Policy or our handling of your Personal Data, please contact us at support@usekicker.com. Companion Intelligence, Inc. is the data controller for the Services described in this Privacy Policy.
